The evolving regulatory landscape for private investigators has reached the floor of the Victorian Parliament, with significant implications for our industry.
Earlier today, David Limbrick, leader of the Libertarian Party, tabled a formal question in Parliament seeking clarity around recent legislative changes impacting licensed private investigators and security professionals. The question, directed to the Minister for Police, raises concerns over compliance burdens, industry consultation, and the practical effects of the reforms on small business operators in the field.

In response to the growing attention, Richard James, a respected voice in our profession and long-time advocate for investigative services, will be meeting with Mr Limbrick at Parliament House on Friday, 16 May at 1:30 PM.
Following the meeting, Richard will join David Limbrick live on his podcast, where they will discuss the proposed changes, the concerns raised by industry members, and what the future may hold for private investigators in Victoria. The episode will be broadcast to Mr Limbrick’s growing audience and is expected to generate significant discussion.
Facebook – David Limbrick’s Facebook page will be live at the time but posted afterwards if you miss it.
Members are encouraged to tune in to the podcast and share it within their professional networks to raise awareness and help advocate for a fair and functional regulatory environment.
We will continue to monitor developments closely and provide updates following Friday’s podcast.
